Career Central: St. Louis Lambert hiring, 911 dispatchers needed

911 dispatchers needed

The City of St. Louis is looking for 911 dispatchers.

The job involves receiving and evaluating telephone calls in the police division’s 911 call center, dispatching police units, redirecting calls to EMS dispatch, fire equipment dispatch or other agencies, and performing R.E.J.I.S (Regional Justice Information System) and M.U.L.E.S. (Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) searches for missing and wanted/warrant vehicle and person records.

Pay starts around $20 an hour with good benefits.

St. Louis Lambert International Airport

There are more than 100 vacant positions: technical support specialist II and programmer/analyst I & III positions in the IT division, all trades in the operating departments (electrician, fleet maintenance technicians, facilities maintenance workers, airfield maintenance workers, HVAC mechanics, mechanical maintenance workers and others), airport police officers, and airport properties specialists. The Airport Properties Specialists, for example, are responsible for establishing airport tenant relations and monitoring tenants for compliance with leases.

  • Utility worker
  • Stationary engineer
  • Clerk Typist and other administrative support personnel

Some of these jobs come with $1500 dollar hiring bonuses that are paid out after you pass a working test period. Airfield maintenance worker is one of the classifications eligible for the bonus. These employees maintain and repair airport runways, ramps, taxiways and grounds

Also, the City of St. Louis Department of Personnel established both a Recruitment Incentive Program and a Hiring Incentive Program to encourage current employees to recruit friends and family to work for the city and to promote applications.

Spectrum hiring door-to-door sales reps

Spectrum is hiring more than 30 sales representatives in St. Louis.

You’ll work going door-to-door, selling the company’s internet, TV, mobile and voice service to new customers.

Base salaries, along with an introductory commission, guarantee at least $20 dollars an hour.

You’ll also get health benefits and mileage reimbursement.

SLATE 2021 Youth Employment Program

How would you like to get paid while getting work experience?

If you’re between the ages of 16 and 24, there are two training programs for you.

SLATE is currently accepting applications for both the STL Youth Jobs and WIOA Youth Programs. Both programs offer participants paid work experience, but each program serves youth of various ages and has different eligibility requirements.

  • STL Youth Jobs is for youth ages 16-24. Participants receive a $500 completion stipend.
  • WIOA Youth is for youth ages 17-24.

Participants in both programs earn $10.50 per hour, for up to 240 hours.

These are clerical and administrative positions with government agencies, libraries, community organizations, and more.

Recruitment opportunity in the elevator industry

The International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 3 Joint Apprenticeship Committee, is opening recruitment of elevator mechanics in the St. Louis area. 

Apprentices will be responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of passenger and freight elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, and moving sidewalks under the direction of a mechanic.

The industry provides excellent opportunities and great wages. Anyone who is interested in joining the industry is welcome to apply.
